Veronica Rose Macias-Garcia, lovingly known as Ronica, Ronnie, or later in life, Vero, passed away on October 29, 2025, at the age of 55. Born and raised in Bryan, Texas, Veronica had an unshakable love for her hometown and the people in it.
She was the daughter of Angie Ramirez Cruz and Armando Macias Jr. and stepdaughter to Baudelio Cruz. Veronica was a devoted and proud mother to her daughter Kaitlyn Garcia Saenz and husband John Saenz, and her son Jaice Austin Garcia. She also shared a special bond with her bonus daughter, LaShonda Wilson, and husband Jeremy Wilson, and loved their children as her own. Even though Veronica didn’t have grandchildren of her own, she proudly called herself “Glam’ma” to her beloved granddog, Hunnie, who held a very special place in her heart.
Veronica is also survived by her siblings—sister Brenda Lee Bennett and husband Russell, brothers Julian Alexander Macias and wife Dinora, and Malcolm X Macias and wife Rachel. For over five years, she shared her life and love with her partner, Vida Blue. Veronica deeply loved her nieces and nephews, and that love extended to her great-nephews as well. She shared a special, unbreakable bond with her great-nephew, Abram Gamboa, who held an extraordinary place in her heart.
Veronica was known for her loud, comical, and outgoing spirit. Anyone who knew her knew she was the real deal. As she would always say, “What you see is what you get.” She was honest, straightforward, and could make anyone laugh.
Known as the Bling Queen, Veronica shined and sparkled everywhere she went—nothing about her was ever “plain” or “boring.” She took pride in her appearance and invested in herself, always making sure she looked flawless from head to toe. Her makeup, accessories, and outfits were always perfectly matched and on point. She left her mark on the world and the people around her by adding her special touch of bling to everything she came across.
Veronica loved spending time with her family and friends. In her earlier days, you could find her singing her favorite Tejano songs at family gatherings with her cousins or breaking it down on the dance floor. As time went on, she enjoyed winding down with movie dates alongside her favorite girl cousins and never missed a chance to go out to eat—whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner—at her favorite restaurant, Casa Rodriguez, where she was known as the number one customer. And of course, no visit was ever complete without her to-go sweet tea in hand.
More than anything, Veronica’s greatest pride and joy were her children. Kaitlyn and Jaice were her entire world, and she made sure everyone knew it. She never missed an opportunity to brag about them, to support them, or to tell them how proud she was. Veronica poured her heart into being their mom—encouraging them, protecting them, and celebrating every milestone, big or small. The love she had for them was immeasurable and unconditional, and it will continue to live through them always. Veronica’s laughter, fierce energy, and sparkle will forever shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
