

Violet Ray Light, 99, of Bryan, Texas passed into the arms of Jesus on December 23, 204 after a long illness. She was born on August 6, 1925 to Clifton and Mary Lusk of Sydney, Tx. and lived on the family farm. She was the second oldest of six children.
Violet graduated from Sydney High School and received the class Miss Congeniality award. After graduation she moved to Dallas to live with a cousin and work as a telephone operator. While travelling between Dallas and Sydney, she met Army Master Sargent Charles Franklin Light her future husband. Following the end of World War II they married on May 19, 1945 in Dallas, Texas. They had two children Randall Ray Light and Sandra Lanelle Light. In 1961 they moved to Cedar Hill, Texas.
Violet is remembered as a loving, caring housewife and mother. She was an active lifelong member of the Baptist church and loved Jesus. She was known for her humility and gratitude. She was committed to her family. In later years she cared for Charlie who became demented. After his death in 2003, she eventually decided to move to Bryan, Texas. She made many friends at the Bryan Senior Center where she played dominos several days each week. She joined a Baptist church. She also became involved with her neighborhood association.
She participated in family activities and trips. She especially enjoyed the Christmas holidays. In addition, she and Milton Greer became close companions. They frequently shared meals, dominos at the Bryan Senior Center, and quiet time together.
Violet is survived by her brother Lee Lusk and his wife Betty. She was proceeded in death by he her husband Charlie, her brother Alton, her sisters Betty, Mary, and Vista and their spouses. She is survived by her son Randall Light, MD, his wife Irene of College Station, Texas, and their children David Light and wife April, Susan Farmer and husband Christopher, and Julie Boytim and husband Edward. She is also survived by their fourteen great grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her daughter Sandra Lanelle Leslie of Cedar Hill, Texas, her children Shana and husband Jason Turney, Sheena Beck, and Robert Leslie as well as their five additional great grandchildren.
A graveside memorial service will be held at the Little Bethel Cemetery in Duncanville, Texas on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 11am. She will be buried alongside her husband Charlie.
