

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 22nd at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. Monday with a rosary service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Wally was born December 17, 1917 in Bryan the son of Charles and Carrie (Jurek) Sosolik. He proudly served our country during WWII in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1940-46. Wally served in American Samoa, New Zealand and Guadalcanal. He received a Purple Heart for an injury he sustained in Guadalcanal. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 4692, American Legion Earl Graham Post 159, Military Order of the Purple Heart and DAV of Bryan/College Station Chapter 200.
On September 25, 1944, Wally married Hilda Polansky. They were lifelong residents of Bryan and members of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Later they moved to The Woodlands to be closer with their family and attended church at St. Simon and Jude Catholic Church.
Wally is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 66 ½ years, Hilda Sosolik; brother, Frank Sosolik; and a sister, Jane Sterkevich.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Donal Vernon, Sr. of Conroe; grandson, Donal R. Vernon, Jr. and wife Darla of The Woodlands; granddaughter, Trisha Vernon Brown of Spring; four great-grandchildren, Emily Vernon, Cameron Vernon, Haley Brown and Maddie Brown; brother-in-law, Barney Cash of San Antonio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Rose of Texas Hospice in The Woodlands especially to, Elizabeth Saulsbury RN and Rachel Corley. Also to, Unlimited Care Cottages, Buck and Terri Buckholtz and a very special thank you to his caretakers, Agnes Mwaura and Jacinta Ngugi for the care they gave to Wally.
