A Graveside Service will be held Friday, December 8th at Rest-Ever Memorial Park Cemetery in Bryan, Texas at 2:00 P.M.
Walter was born on October 13, 1941 in Taylor, Texas to Nannie Walter Tubbs Sr. and Mary Anne Vrana Tubbs. Walter grew up in Belton, Texas and moved to Bryan during his high school years, where he graduated from SFA in 1961. He went on to work at Alenco for many years before becoming a superintendent for Sentry.
Upon his retirement, Walter enjoyed coffee with friends at McDonalds, treasure hunting at auctions, and tending to his cattle. Spending time with his cattle was his happy place. He would go sit for hours just watching them. Walter took pleasure in “the good stuff” like sharing a meal with his son Devin at the Kettle, or a drive out to the river to check on his cows with his son Tracy. He also absolutely adored spending time with his granddaughters, Tessa and Tatum. Walter was a collector of antiques and other collectibles, and enjoyed traveling all over Texas searching for them. Walter was very sentimental and there was hardly anything he wanted to part with. Each item he had represented a memory and meant something to him.
Walter had a tough exterior and loved to pick at and joke with everyone, but he would do anything for anyone. He often brought his nieces and nephews treats and loved to share his auction treasures with others.
Walter is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jeanette, his brothers: Daniel (Buddy) Tubbs and wife Angela (Stratta), Stanley Tubbs and wife Mitzi (Marek), his sister Nancy McDaniel, his infant daughter Patricia Tubbs, his granddaughter Macie Lynn Tubbs, and his special friend Margo Havel.
He is survived by his sons; Tracy Tubbs and wife Kristen, Devin Tubbs, James Tubbs and Glenn Tubbs, his daughters; Deborah Tubbs, and Vikki Tubbs Kemp, his nephew Jody Satsky and wife Kristi, sister Frances and husband Carroll Wood, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Chris Gilbertson, Matt Wood, Gregory Tubbs, Randy Satsky and Jody Satsky, James Grenwelge.
The family would like to thank Kim Tubbs Leonard for all of her love and support as a caregiver through Walter’s illness.
