

William F. “Bill” Nemec, Sr., 82, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015 at his home in the Smetana Community. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Reverend Monsignor John McCaffrey officiating. Visitation is scheduled for November 6th from 5:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan, with a Rosary being recited at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Msgr. Gleissner Mausoleum at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Bryan.
Bill was born December 29, 1932 at his home in the Smetana community to Frank J. and Mary Kucera Nemec. He attended school in Smetana and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan in 1950 and grew up working for Sanitary Farm Dairies in Bryan. In August of 1952 he joined the United States Air Force to serve his country during the Korean Era. He married the love of his life, Mary Holler on August 14, 1954, and was honorable discharged from the Air Force in August of 1956. Returning home from the service with his family, Bill returned to Sanitary Farm Dairies, where he continued to work as a delivery Route Driver. After Sanitary Farm Dairies was sold, Bill joined Lilly Dairy Products as a Route Driver until his retirement in May of 2006.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan and the K.J.T. Society No. 14. He loved to garden and raise cattle. He also volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul Resale Store in downtown Bryan.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary; and one brother, Albert Nemec.
He is survived by his wife Mary H. Nemec of College Station; two sons, William F. Nemec, Jr. and his wife Tiffany and David L. Nemec, Sr. and his wife Theresa all of Bryan; one daughter, Kathleen O’Field and her husband Ivan of College Station; one sister, Willie Mae Brandesky of Bryan; three grandchildren, Kyle William Nemec and Kelsey Joanne Nemec of Vermillion, South Dakota, and Arron David Nemec of Bryan.
