Willie B. Kucera, 88, of Bryan, passed away Friday, July 12, 2013 at Lampstand Health & Rehab of Bryan. Visitation will be 5 to 8 Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2013 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Bryan, with Reverend Patrick Ebner as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Smetana Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Arlan Smith, Lawrence Rosniak, David Castillo, Wes Batson, Cecil Duke, Jake Urbanosky, Arthur (Dino) Dean, and Steve Bailey. Honorary Pallbearers are Shawn Kucera and James Peteete.
Willie was born June 5, 1925 in Orchard, Texas, the son of Joe P. and Stefina (Sliva) Kucera. He served in the Navy during WWII. He married Dorothy Stavinoha and together they raised four children. Mr. Kucera was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Richard and Joe Kucera; and a granddaughter, Rochelle Dean.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy; children, Billy & Barbara Kucera, John & Therese Kucera, Debbie & Arthur (Dino) Dean, Laurie & Steve Bailey; three brothers, Tony, Herman, and Herbert Kucera; five sisters, Gladys Fusik, Helen Konvicka, Frances Wessels, Mildred Stavinoha, Georgia Kasper; seven grandchildren, Kimberly & Wes Batson, Tiffani & Danny Neu, Shawn & Sandra Kucera, Leslie & Arlan Smith, Audra & Jeremy Smith, B.J. & David Castillo and James & Becky Peteete; and twelve great grandchildren.
