Bob it has been a hard month since your passing.   I miss you and will always love you.  We had some real good times for me to remember. Memories are what I hold dear to my heart. Hope to see you again some day.

We've enjoyed having a friendship with Bob and Norma for close to 45 years.  His passing has definitely left a hole in our hearts.  Bob, your famous 'cackle' of a laugh is engraved in our memory bank.  You were so unbelievably gifted when it came to electronics.  You were the first geek I ever knew.  Then I met my own geek who became my husband.  Bill and I are so happy to have made recent memories with you by our visit to Bullhead City last September.  What a gift that was and is so treasured.  Rest well in the arms of Jesus my friend.  Friends forever!

Grandpa...I have had trouble trying to find the words to express how I feel about you not being here anymore. I feel you would understand and say to me..."Well Christine you know you have always been that little girl who was either dancing or crying". Grandpa, I have been doing a lot of crying because I miss you. I miss your laugh, your smile, your jokes, your sense of humor and your hugs. I will cherish our last get-together at Christmas...because we finally took out all the old movies and showed my boys. I loved all of us sitting in the living room and watching the movies on the wall. I recently talked with my mother and shared the sad news and she shared a fond memory she had with you...sitting on the couch and watching roller derby and yelling at the TV. I love and miss you Grandpa. It comforts me to know you are in a place where you are no longer sick, no longer tired and no longer having to stay in bed. I know you are smiling, joking, playing some golf or pool and having a good time. To the world you are just one person...but to your family...you were the world to us!!!I miss you and will always love you. You will never be forgotten!!

Although I never met you in person, I always felt like I knew you through the stories that Julie and Stacy shared with me. In behalf of myself, and Noelani and Jade, we would like to offer our prayers, sympathy, love and Aloha to Julie, Randy, Stacy, Mrs. Hunt and Family for the loss of your Dad/Grandpa/Husband. I know how much your Dad meant to you, Juls. Take care my friend.

On behalf of my immediate family, my church and close friends, please accept our deepest condolences, earnest prayers and customary novenas offered for the soul of Bill's father, Robert Hunt.  


As a golf professional, there have been many instances whether at home, among friends, or during tournaments, that Bill would repeatedly acknowledge how much his father influenced his life, particularly in the game of golf.  Bill would mention occasions during his childhood, when his father would have him miss school days to teach him golf.  In later years, his father would allow him to play with his golfing friends, and as it eventually turned out, Bill could actually hold his own.   He saw Bill's potential and impressed upon Bill the desire to pursue golf.  

 

While we visited Bill's parents in 2006, his father delighted in showing old golf scorecards that he kept, many of which recorded Bill's scores while playing with the grown-ups.  They were remarkably promising considering he was just a teenager.  I asked Bill's dad to share with me that poignant moment when he recognized Bill's talent and I am pleased I kept that email he sent me:  

 

".......I don't know if Bill remembers or not but I will never forget.....We were playing Montalvo one sun shiny day and I believe Bill was around 14 or 15....perhaps 16, however we came to the 18th hole which at Montalvo was a 360 yd par four, sounds easy but the last 70 yds was up hill to a very small green with out of bounds right behind it.....anyway I drove and hit a fairly decent drive approximately 120 yds from the green.....Bill, uncharacteristically hit a very poor drive and I was a good 90 yds ahead of him.....I thought, hot dog I am going to surely win this match.....well Bill, being away, pulled out a 3 iron and hit the most beautiful shot I ever saw, it sailed majestically onto the green and settled about 6 feet from the cup.....I was awestruck, so much so that I dubbed my second shot and didn't even get up the hill to the green....needless to say Mr. Bill won the hole and the match and I realized that he had become just too good for me to ever hope to match him again....and I felt so proud of him and so sad for myself......I knew that our respective golfing abilities were traveling in opposite directions .....Of course I never told him that at the time.............one of my favorite memories.....Love Dad"

 

Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm for golf with Bill, which he now embraces as his true calling and life's passion.

It's been a hard week to digest that you have finally left this earth. I have been reflecting on all the memories and one that stands out was when I was 11 years old - I was living with you and Grandma in Simi and my mom wanted me back in Hawaii. We laid together as I sobbed in your arms - you even sharing a tear or two but comforted me non the less. You gave some sound advise and that moment will forever be with me. I will always think of your great humorous jokes and your Dracula and wearwolf impressions. You knew more about movies than anyone I ever knew. So many great lessons were learned from you, but above all the love you gave me. Thank you grandpa for always giving me a little something to think about. And of course asking me "how's your love life??".... You meant the world to me and I am going to miss you so much!!

Words can not express the loss we feel at this sad time.  We were making travel plans to come out for a visit and are really sorry we didn't get there soon enough. Bob was more than an uncle - he was a true friend.  We have wonderful memories of visiting in Ocala and remember a lot of laughter.  Norma - take care of yourself during this difficult time - Callie needs you !!  Take comfort in knowing you have a special smiling guardian angel watching over you.

We miss and love you Grandpa. I am so thankful my girls got to spend time with you and get to know you before we moved overseas. I am also glad you found out before you moved on we are having a boy and that the Hunt family name will live on. Love ya always!

I was so lucky to have known Bob as a neighbor. He was smart,witty, kind, and always willing to help.  He and Norma were the best friends to have.  I missed them so much when they moved.  Bob will always be remembered.

I first met Bobby and Norma when I dropped off boxes for his son Bill in Ocala.  A loving couple, an aloha warmth and most especially, Bobby's infectious smile.  Bobby and the family legacy he left behind reminds me of a poem dear to my heart, "The Bridge Builder by Will Allen Dromgoole".
