

Fred was born on August 18, 1926 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He spent most of his youth in Phoenix, Arizona where, at age 17, he joined the Army-Air Corps. After discharge, he enlisted into the U.S. Air Force, retiring after 27 years of honorable service at the rank of SMSGT. Fred was a Veteran of three wars, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He earned numerous decorations and medals to include a Bronze Star for meritorious service in Viet Nam.
Fred loved life, his country, his family and friends. He was an active member of the Elks Lodge, The American Legion and a Freemason in the Arizona Masonic Lodge #68. His real passion was his dedicated involvement in the VFW Post #9833 where he was honored to serve as Commander as well as other related positions and he was also a proud member of the Military Order of the Cooties. He was a natural poet who penned beautiful, moving poetry for family, friends, loved ones and various organizations. He enjoyed playing poker, slot machines and Bingo or simply meeting family and friends for a fun time at dinners which were always filled with stories and laughter.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda after 75 years of marriage; his Mother, Jane; his Father, Fred; 4 sisters; Janet, Helen, Roselyn & Carolyn and a half-brother, Delfred.
He is survived by his two sons, Frederick M. Stilt, Jr. and Mark V. Stilt and their spouses, 7 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Children, many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Fred was blessed with a life full of knowledge, caring, honesty and generosity which he shared with all those he loved and who loved him back. Fred had no greater love than family and his comrades in the VFW and the Military Order of the Cooties. He will be truly missed but always in our hearts and memories.
