Born on January 21, 1945, Jim spent much of his life in Sioux City, Iowa, before making the move to Bullhead City, Arizona. Wherever life took him, his greatest joy was always his family, especially his beloved wife, Linda, whom he loved for 62 wonderful years. Their life together was filled with love, adventures, laughter, and countless memories that will be cherished for generations to come.
Jim was a devoted husband, a proud father, a loving and cherished grandfather and great-grandfather. He leaves behind his loving wife, Linda; his children Jimmy (Heather) Prevail and Ronica (Doug) Towns; five granddaughters; nine great-grandchildren; and his brother Darrell (Sally) Prevail. Jim also shared a special bond with his beloved cat, Thomas, who held a treasured place in his heart.
Jim dedicated more than 30 years of his working life to the Burlington Northern Railroad. He was a hardworking man who understood the value of providing for the people he loved.
But Jim’s life was about so much more than work. He knew how to enjoy the simple pleasures in life and make memories along the way. He loved traveling with Linda, dancing, and playing cards with friends. He was a loyal Chicago Cubs fan and cheered on the Chicago Bears. Jim spent years coaching his children and grandchildren, as well as attending all of their sporting events. Later in life, he took on the role of umpiring, continuing to be a part of something he loved.
And then there was Jim’s talent for finding a bargain! He loved going to rummage sales, always on the lookout for a good deal. But finding a bargain was only half the fun. Jim often turned around and resold his treasures at his own rummage sales, hoping to make a profit. He had a knack for spotting a deal and a special kind of satisfaction in knowing he had come out ahead.
Every family gathering, every dance, every ballgame, and every rummage sale will carry a little piece of Jim with it. His love for Linda, and his family will forever remain part of his family’s story. Though he may no longer be by our side, the love he shared will never fade.
Until we meet again, Jim keep dancing, keep telling the Cubs what they are doing wrong, keep an eye out for a good bargain, and give Thomas a little love from all of us. You will forever be loved, forever missed, and forever in our hearts.
