Mr. French is survived by his loving wife, Ingrid and daughters, Leann French, Diann (Dennis) Dexter & Caroline French and also step-children Gary Reay & India Reay. He also leaves behind grandchildren, Adam (Amanda) Kicker, Kevin Kicker, Melissa Meader, Stacy Hernandez, Jessica Eagle, Abigail Eagle, Evan Wiesner & Owen Wiesner and great grandchildren, Jasmine & Tyler Hernandez.
SFC John R. French (Ret) served with distinction for the United States Marine Corps, US Air Force and the US Army. He served multiple combat tours in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Throughout his military career he earned several medals, including the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Korean National Defense Medal w/ 2 stars, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ 2 stars, and the American Defense Medal.
John was born in Melbourne, Australia on January 9, 1929 and moved to the United States when he was 10 years old, growing up in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. He enlisted into the United States Marine Corps in 1952, which begun his military could areer. Upon his retirement from the US Army in 1973, he went on work for the Del Webb & Forever Living Resorts Companies until his retirement in 1997. Afterwards he would enjoy many years of boating, traveling the country in his RV and recreational flying in his beloved Piper Cherokee 180, Ercoupe & Cessna 172 airplanes.
A visitation for John will be held Thursday, August 1, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Diamond & Sons Silver Bell Chapel, 2620 Silver Creek Road, Bullhead City, Arizona. A funeral service will occur Friday, August 2, 2019 at 9:20 AM followed by a burial at Southern Nevada Veteran Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, Nevada 89005.
