Ricardo Cortez, 74, of Bullhead City, Arizona passed away unexpectedly from COVID-19 complications on January 6, 2021. He was born in Los Angeles, California to Guillermo H. Cortez and Arselia Vallejos on March 12, 1946.
Rick graduated from Sierra High School in 1964. In November of 1965 he joined the United States Army and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. He received the Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze stars, National Defense Service Metal, a Parachute Badge, and discharged from the military as an SP4. Rick spent his career in the construction business as a heavy equipment operator and was part of the Operating Engineers Local 12. He was also a member of Disabled Veterans since 2007.
Rick met Linda “Darlene” Jetton and the couple married in 1998 combining their families into one. In his free time Rick liked to play cribbage, pool, and darts, he liked to go boating and travel, he loved to listen to music and was a tequila connoisseur. Rick was always known to look sharp!
Rick is survived by his loving wife Darlene; children, Cynthia, Mike, Robert, and Shannon; brother, Billie Garcia; sister, Sylvia; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held from noon to 2:00pm on Friday February 12, 2021 at Dimond & Sons Silver Bell Chapel in Bullhead City, AZ. Another visitation will be held from 9:30am-11:00am on Monday February 15, 2021 at Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary in Riverside, CA. A private burial will follow at Riverside National Cemetery.
