

Alvin Maurice Krasner, 85, of Burbank, CA passed away on December 19, 2013. Alvin was born in Providence, RI on July 7, 1928 to the late Jacob and Lillian Krasner. He was one of five children. He was married to the late Irma Krasner. They had two sons: Sheldon David Krasner and James Howard Krasner. Alvin is survived by son, Sheldon. Alvin also had two grandchildren: Julian and Hannah Krasner. Alvin spent many loving years with partner, Arlene Kelman.
Alvin was a Navy Pilot in World War II. He then worked in sales for many years. But showing great ambition, he received a PhD in the field of Hypnotherapy. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and was a recreational pilot. He was also a member of the Masons.
Alvin was a groundbreaking leader in the world of Hypnotherapy. He founded The American Institute of Hypnotherapy, a PhD program. He authored “The Wizard Within,” which is still used as a text book in hypnotherapy educational programs. He was passionate about making a difference in the world of Hypnotherapy. He related strongly with the character of the Wizard in “The Wizard of Oz,” helping hundreds of patients improve their lives, showing them how to help themselves.
He loved doing hypnosis stage shows, blending his gifts of hypnosis, laughter and entertainment. Anyone who knew him would agree that his gift of humor was perhaps his greatest. Making people laugh pleased him perhaps more than anything. He also enjoyed doing amateur magic to entertain kids; kids he didn’t even know.
He was a devoted grandfather. In his golden years, his grandchildren were the very center of his universe; showering them with boundless unconditional love.
Funeral was held at 12:00, noon, on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Riverside National Cemetery.
Memorial gathering to be scheduled later this year in Rhode Island.
