Angelina Moore (née Hernandez) passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California on July 11, 2020. Angelina was born on February 23, 1934 to Cecilia Benavides and Geronimo Hernandez in the city of Ventura, California. As a young woman, she married Louis Cardenas and together they raised their family in Burbank, California where she would also serve the community as a teacher’s aide for the school district. Later in life, she went on to marry Gary Moore for a time and enjoyed caring for cats as well as chickens! Eventually, she worked for Minimed (now Medtronics), where she helped assemble medical devices for diabetics, until she retired. Throughout her life, Angelina had quite the green thumb, always tending to beautiful plants in her yard. Everyone still raves about her cooking. She could make a meal out of any ingredients that happened to be in the kitchen, often known to have made tortillas and salsa from scratch. Back in her heyday, she could be seen driving around town in her bright orange Mustang, with her orange lipstick and long black hair, probably on her way to do some Country line dancing, often as instructor! She had an affection for turtles, so much so that she once had a pet turtle named Andy. Her main thing though, was her love for her children and grandchildren, whose musically artistic endeavors she supported unwaveringly. She almost never missed a performance, spending countless hours in the seats at John Burroughs and Burbank High Schools as well as numerous music venues in LA, always in the front rows. Angelina’s great joy was her first great-grandson, whom she was gratefully able to spend time with in her final years.
Angelina is survived by her siblings: Guadalupe Aguirre, Richard Hernandez (Cheryl), Rachael Henry (Herman), and Emmett “Baby” Miranda, children: Gwen Cardenas, Doris Cardenas-Burrola (John), Christopher Cardenas (Judy), grandchildren: Angelina Levine (Brian), David Diaz, Christian Burrola and great-grandchild: Louis Levine.
A Celebration of Life in memory of Angelina and Interment will take place on Friday, July 9, at 1:00pm at Pierce Brothers Valhalla, 10621 Victory Blvd., North Hollywood, CA.
Reception will follow at a private residence in Burbank.
