Antoinette Josephine “Cookie” Hofer passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, May 15, 2019 at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California, the town she called home for nearly six decades.
Born on August 29, 1936, the fourth of four children to Sam and May Russo of New Hyde Park, New York, she earned her unique nickname as a newborn from her older brother Artie.
She married Edward Jack Hofer on July 5, 1958, and the couple relocated from the East Coast to Burbank in 1962 where she took up the full-time occupation of home maker. As part of the fading generation of households with one working parent, she and Eddie managed to buy their own home and put all four of their children through college.
Cookie took great joy in the accomplishments of her children, and subsequently those of her grandchildren and was ever-present at sporting events, music, or dance recitals.
Cookie was preceded in her passing by her beloved Eddie, her spouse of nearly 60 years, her brother Artie, and her parents, Sam and May Russo. She is survived by her sister, Lucy, brother, Louis, children, Edward, Garry, Barbara and Steven, and grandchildren Carl, Corinna, Joyce, Patience and Rick.
