There are no words for the loss of this amazing woman.  I remember the best time of my childhood was our families being together.  I loved getting to see my friend Maria.  Best of all was Dina cooking the best Italian food!  She would always say Eat Eat.  The Odious family will always have a special place in our hearts.

Mrs. Odio was such a kind and delightful lady. She always had a smile on her face and was a joy to be around. She will be missed by so many people and especially her family. They are a very close loving family and her children and grandchildren have become wonderful caring human beings with the great guidance from their parents.

Giu-sepp!. Viniqua!. As a child spending countless days at my Nonna's house, I loved that word, Viniqua. In Italian, it means come here and back in those days, it always meant that there was something for me in the kitchen to eat or do. And in the past few days, I've done a lot of thinking about how that simple word applies to just about everything my Nonna did. That was the her true beauty; you never had to ask for what you needed, she would just open up her arms and say come here. And in those arms would be the very thing you needed; a warm smile, a kind word, or, her own specialty, incredible food. And it didn't matter who you were either. Whether you were a family member or just a neighbor from down the street, my Nonna would always invite you into her life and make sure you came out better than when you entered. She was a woman who could go anywhere and use this open and charming persona despite her heavy accent and language difficulties to make anyone fall in love with her.  As a kid, I spent most weekdays at my Nonna's house since my parent's worked and she brought me up well. I never ate jarred food as a baby; my Nonna would blend fresh veggies and fruits together to make my food daily. When I got a little older, Nonna and I began to walk all over the place, from the mailbox to the library to bank and of course her favorite grocery store, Gefer Farms, or what she insisted on calling the produzer. Even if we had no place to go, Nonna, loving to walk, would at least go on a stroll around the neighborhood, or what she referred to as Up and Down the Street. But no matter where we went, there would always be somebody that she'd know that she'd greet and begin talking to in the most friendliest of ways. It was the neighbor Rosa, the grocer, the mailman, or even that one lady at the bank. On one of these walks, I asked her why she always said hi to people and was so outgoing with complete strangers. I'll never forget the life lesson she told me. Now I don't remember the exact words, but it was along the lines of this: You should always say hi to people. Just hi that's all you really need. Because you don't know what the other person is going through and maybe that little gesture of kindness can help them have a better day." It's amazing-I don't think I could ever think of a person that was so concerned about others! Everything she did was directed to invite you in and make you feel welcome up until the very end and that's why she'll always be remembered as one of the most incredible people I will ever know. But another amazing thing about Nonna was that although she was so kind and thoughtful to everybody, she was so incredibly strong too. My Nonna came to this huge country from her tiny mountain village in Italy at 19 years old with nothing and built a family of four successful children. And then, her husband and love Emidio sadly died in 1980 leaving her and the kids fatherless. But even amongst the problems that arose, she always stayed strong and prideful for her family, keeping them together through the hardest days up until her last. She fought illness and heart troubles throughout her life, hardening her and making her an inspiration for many. But through all her struggles in life, she still had amazing strength physically too being able to do amazing feats of baking and cooking with vigor. I'll never know how she was able to raise 4 kids nearly alone, care for 3 grandchildren and still maintain a clean and well-fed house at all times. She truly was an amazing woman that I will always look up to and now as Jesus told her Viniqua and that she's found peace in someone else's arms for a change, I can only give her thanks. They'll never be another caring, strong and kindhearted woman like my Nonna, but I'll always remember her the countless memories, and cookies, that she provided for me. I love you Nonna, God Bless You with love.

Zia Dina was the sweetest, kindest and most loving person you could ever know. She always greeted you with a warm loving smile. She truly was an angel among us and now we have another angel to watch over all of us. Love you Zia Dina

Zia Dina was the sweetest lady. She always made you feel special and loved. We are so blessed to have had her as a part of our family. She will be missed by all of us.

I am writing here today not to mourn the loss of Dina, but to celebrate her beautiful life. And boy what a life it was! Now early on she had some pretty large challenges thrown at her. The untimely loss of her son Carmen, then her husband. Now the average person at that stage would have likely given up, but not Dina. Through her faith, strength and love, the matriarch of the Odio family raised four beautiful, humble, caring, loving and persistent children - Maria, Emo, Angie and Rosanna. And why wouldn't they be all of these things. Dina instilled all of these very virtues she lived by into them. 

Now when I mention persistence, this is really a kind word for stubbornness. What I mean by that is, there were three things you knew you were going to have to do if and when you ever went to Dina's house. One, you were going to go sit in the kitchen. Two, you were going to manga (eat) & drink something and three, no was not an acceptable answer. Dina was persistant that way because she always wanted to make people feel welcomed and loved. And boy was her food special!! Her cookies were the best! That trait of welcoming & love lives on with her kids and grandkids. 

A quick personal story regarding eating at Dina's. Now we all know Dina had a bit of an Italian accent, okay a real heavy one. Once while eating there she brought out some cheese, then she asked one of her grandkids to go and get the crack. Now you can imagine the wonder of what we were thinking. So I said, no thanks, but do you have any weed? What she was trying to say was go get the crackers. From that point on, it was a running joke with Dina. When we would see her, we would say, "Hey lady, you got any crack?" She would just start to laugh. She had one great sense of humor. That is what I will cherish and remember the most, her laugh. Dina Odio, a true angel here on earth!

I write this with such a heavy heart. The loss of my sister has been very difficult. She leave so much love behind in her children and grandchildren   
Growing up my sister raised me while my mother would go to work even as adult I was always her little brother. When ever you were down she could bring you up with her positive aditude and remind you how blessed you were. With the lose of my wife she was a rock for me and my children, I don't think I would have gotten through it without her. Sister of mine I will always look after the amazing family you raised with such love.  Dear sister of mine II will miss are weekly lunches and dinners and our daily talks.

Dina was a second mother to me after my mother passed away.  My fondest memories are the delicious Italian dinners Dina would prepare with love and making everything from scratch. just don't ask for apple juice! (lol).  The many New Years celebrations spent at her house and how much she embraced my family as her own and the great friendship she had with my mom.  She never had an unkind word to say about anybody and loved her family dearly.  She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and always greeted you with her wonderful smile and you left her house with a full belly.  She will be missed, but the wonderful memories she left behind will go on forever in my heart.  Love you always Dina!

Dina was such a beautiful person, inside and out. It was always a joy to see her, always smiling. She will be sorely missed. May her memory be eternal...

To all of you who knew Dina, my most heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of you.  Dina was simply the greatest of what being a human being is all about.  She was the best of the best..! Our fondest childhood memories always revolve around the Odio family. We have known one another for probably a good 50 years, with our parents knowing each other well before that. Dina was a beautiful, loving, happy, sweet lady who always had an affectionate grin, a warm embrace, and let's not forget the delicious food cooking in her inviting Italian kitchen! I admired her strength and courage, especially after she lost her dear husband.  She was my mamma's best friend; my mom would always light up after she had finished a phone conversation with Dina, and it would just make her day! Even with her times of illness, she still had a zest for life and you could see that she truly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. To all of her dear family, I just want to say that the beautiful memories you have of her will forever be in your hearts. You will know that she is with you when you look at a beautiful picture of her, remember a favorite dish she used to lovingly prepare or simply reminisce about a place you visited together and enjoyed. Dina was a wonderful mother in law. Always made me feel like one of her own. I will have so many memories of her to cherish in my heart.  She was an amazing Nonna! Im so happy that my daughters had such a close relationship with her..She gave them so much LOVE.

Knowing Dina is the closest I've come to knowing God.  She exemplified love, compassion, pure joy and optimism. I'm fortunate to have spent a wonderful afternoon with Dina on Tuesday with Rosanna and Angie and will hold in my memory that wonderful smile and great humor that greeted me always.
