I remember when I was a young kid Earl always had a big heart. I wasn't his grandkid, but he treated me like his own. He always made it a point to infect others with his kindness, with his laugh, and with his love. He was willing to give the shirt off his back to help others, even if it meant making his life harder. 

I remember he had maybe a few hundred to his name one time when I was five years old and he bet me that I couldn't make 3 baskets from across the living room in my toy basketball hoop. I made them. 

As much as he hated to give it to me, he was a man of his word - he paid a 5 year old $100 on a bet and took me to get a video game (after some hesitation) I really wanted afterwards. That speaks the the type of man he is. 

Someone who cares, who made me feel safe and loved as a child, and someone who had a personality larger than life. He had a huge heart. When I saw him last, I could tell the core of that man I knew as a child was still there.

He was still the playful, loving man I remember calling grandpa Earl as a child. It's not fair that the world lost such a kind soul so soon. 

I’ll always carry those memories with me. 

The world is a little less warm without him in it, but the kindness he showed lives on in the man he shaped. I’m so sorry for your loss uncle. I think about you every day. I'll always be here for you.

Earl was a character. His energy couldn’t be matched by anyone. And like someone wrote in another note, the party was never supposed to end. If you left early, Earl would make you feel like you were the one doing something wrong 😂

Kyle Hampton (Earl’s son) is like the brother I never had. He’s such a strong guy, mentally and physically. Even though I wasn’t super close with Earl and we didn’t spend a ton of time together, I still feel like I was close to him. From the time I did spend with Earl, I see so much of my brother Kyle in him. They were like twins, and if you ever caught them together in one night, you knew you were in for a good time lol.

Earl was taken from us way too soon, and my heart goes out to his family. I’m going to hold onto all the good times and memories I had with him. Earl will always be with us in spirit and will never be forgotten.

We love you, Earl. ❤️
