She died in the late afternoon soon after a socially distant visit with her daughter, 4th born, Frances McCaffrey of Studio City and her fifth child, Russell McCaffrey. That visit ended with a video where she made a joke, enjoyed a laugh, and through her blue mask managed to sing a verse, "It was a good world after all."
Born to Edna and Elmer Heneks, Edna grew up in Youngstown, Ohio. Shortly after World War II began she enlisted in the Navy. As a Wave her duties included composing the telegrams that notified the next of kin when a Sailor was lost. Edna was greatly impacted by the war. She never forgot the price paid by those who died in service for their country. After the war she married the late William "Mac" McCaffrey. They had six children Nancy, Lee, Mark, Franny, Russell and Billy.
Preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Leta Reeves, she had 5 grandsons; Holden, Justin, Skyler, Ryan, and Kevin, and two great grandchildren, Liam and Vivian Reeves, She will be dearly missed by all.
"Edna always loved art and at the age of 80 took up painting seriously. In the space of a few years she managed to turn out enough oil and acrylic works for each of her children to have several to enjoy for years to come.
She had many friends at "Evergreen" where she resided for the past 11 years. While marriage and motherhood limited her audience, singing and dancing were her passion. She never lost that passion and spent many happy times in her late years entertaining the good people at "Evergreen."
