I'm Kathy's sister-in-law, and though I didn't get to see Ed much in the last several years, I remember how funny he could be with his stories! And filled with so much energy - all the swap-meets! All the yard sales!!! Saw a photo of all the golf club/bag sets he accumulated over time. Impressive. He's already missed. A fine man, indeed.

He was my favorite teacher at John Burroughs H.S. To this day we have exchanged Christmas cards with notes inside. I invited him and Peggy to our 50th H.S. reunion, as my guests, along with Bea Wojtyla and I had the best time with them. We all crammed into the photo booth and had our picture taken together. He was always so sweet and kind to me. He always knew when I was down and he could make me smile. He was such a good man, filled with thoughtfulness and integrity. He will surely be missed by many! I will be one of them. I think Peggy knew that I always had a crush on him! My heart goes out to Peggy and his children for their loss.
( Here is a photo of Bill Lyle and his Coach ( smiling) Ed Viskocil taken at the 50th. reunion.)

After playing football for coach Viskocil and taking his math class in my junior year, he asked me to play for him in my senior year as defensive captain. He saw something in me which inspired me to be more assertive in life.

I remember so many times laughing with Uncle Ed and Aunt Peg when they visited the Midwest. Always fun to be with.

He was a good teacher, always kind and very knowledgeable. He reminded a lot of us of the actor in the Cracker Jack commercial that was popular in the early 70s. Reece Talley, JBHS, 1974
