Emil grew up in Poland for the first few years of his life, and subsequently emigrated from Germany after World War II to the United States. Not long after he joined the Airforce in the hopes of seeing the world but was stationed aboard an oceangoing vessel in Long Beach.
After his service he began working at Hughes Aircraft where he started inspecting welds for the Apollo space missions and worked his way up to a position of seniority where he was in charge of quality control engineering. Later he also worked on large projects for US military aircraft.
During his work career he also started a real estate business on the side which later grew into a successful and sprawling enterprise.
Emil was a man who loved practicality, anything space related, and his family.
He was an avid chess player and was ranked competitively. Travel was also very important to him after his retirement, and he and his second wife Chiching loved to extensively travel throughout Europe and Asia and explored the rest of the world on ocean cruises.
At home he preferred simple things such as tending to his koi pond and his large group of chickens. One of his favorite activities was playing Mahjong with his grandson for hours at a time.
Emil was a dedicated and loving husband, brother, father, and grandfather. He will be missed.
He is preceded in death by four older brothers and his first wife Angi.
He is survived by his wife Chiching, his sister Hilda, his daughter Robin, his stepson Tim, and his grandson Milo.
