On September 20,1920, a beautiful little girl was born to Simeon Conlu and Antonina Belleza in Talisay, Negros Occidental. She was one of the seven children bestowed to the Conlu family. She grew up a happy girl to a family with some little means but during those times was regarded as plenty. Surviving World War II, she met a dashing young man named Roman Fregil. Captivated by his quiet personality, she fell in love and got married. During their marriage they were blessed with eight children: Marlene F. Carrera, Teacher (married to Efren -(deceased), Belinda C. Fregil, Lawyer, Marilou F. Cunanan, Registered Nurse (married to Arnold), Ramon C. Fregil, Mechanical Engineer (married to Evelyn), Edwin C. Fregil, Chemical Engineer (married to Bonnie), Joemarie C. Fregil, Doctor of Medicine (married to Melanie), Larry C. Fregil, Doctor of Medicine and Ruby C. Fregil, Economics. Eustaquia has twelve grandchildren: Tingting (married to Rayland), Irish (married to Carlo), Devy, Kenneth, Kevin, KC, Joanna (married to Buddy), Katrina, EG, Tintin, Kristopher and Keith. Her great grandchildren are Bea and Christian. She is a stay at home mother but a very good dressmaker. Her children called her Nanay and she worked so hard together with Tatay to give a good education to their eight children. She was really proud of what she has accomplished to her eight children.
As it may sound a difficult life, Takya (known to her relatives and friends) had a zest for happiness. She has an intoxicating laugh that could make anyone smile or join her thunderous laugh. She was able to make things work for whatever it is. Her strong quest for life, inherited by her eight children, drove and guided them all to achieve success to any endeavors they pursued.. Eustaquia was the driving force of the family. The Queen as all her children would call her.
In 1984, Roman and Eustaquia immigrated to the United States and resided in California. They traveled back and forth between California and Talisay. Roman passed away in Burbank, California on March 15,1989. Eustaquia continued to travel between California and Talisay. Almost half of her life she lives in the United States and enjoys traveling all over the world with her children. Every morning she reads the newspaper without using her reading glass. She even watched the Lakers basketball and knows most of the players. She always look forward to spend Christmas in the Philippines with her other children and relatives. She enjoyed all the things that a woman would want - clothes, purses, shoes, jewelries, make-up and things that relates to fashion. She enjoyed life as it comes along.
Her mind was not ready to let go of life but her body at 96 years old could no longer handle . The strong-willed woman had to succumb to the calling of her Maker and so she said…. Goodbye to All!
