Eustaquio Manuel Lorenzo passed away in his home in Burbank, CA on Saturday, August 11, 2018. He is survived by his three sons Mario, Samuel, and Ernesto, and by his two daughters Sonia Balansay and Marites Joven. He was fortunate to have eight grandchildren, Roland Balansay, Christina Balansay, Gabriel Joven, Marcela Lorenzo, Melissa Lorenzo, Angelina Joven, Mikayla Lorenzo and Nicholas Joven. He was also survived by his sister Maria Jersusalem, his son and daughter in-laws and his many nieces and nephews and their children.
He was born on September 20, 1926 to Vicente and Susana Lorenzo in Lal-lo, Philippines. He was the youngest of six children. Along with his parents, he was greeted in heaven by his two brothers, Pedro and Melecio, and two sisters, Baltazara and Emerenciana and his wife Marcela Lorenzo, the mother of his children. He was also greeted by his second wife and many other relatives who waited in heaven for him to arrive.
Being a teenager during WWII was a challenge for him and his family. They traveled on foot for a week to escape danger during the war but lost everything when they returned to their home. They rebuilt and with the encouragement from one of his sister’s, he went back to school. He received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Mapua Institute of Technology in 1957 and passed the Board exam a year later. During this time is when he met his love of his life Marcela. They got married in June 1957 and had five children.
To better the life of his family, in 1971, he went abroad to work and ended up in California. In 1972, he brought his family from the Philippines so they can be together.
He got a job as a machinist at Union Swiss Manufacturing Co. in Glendale where he continued to work for almost 47 years. He never fully retired from the company because he loved his job and his last day he worked was June 19th. During his free time, he went to the Santa Anita racetrack 3-5 times a week. He also loved watching Wrestling, which he did every Monday and Tuesday night.
If you had the opportunity to meet him, you know how great of a man he was. Humble, kind, loving, caring, helpful and very forgiving. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. May he Rest In Peace and watch over his loved one from up above.
