She was born Ginger Lee Norvell on December 27th, 1946 in Caldwell, Kansas to parents Kenneth Lee Norvell and Demoy Keeling Norvell. Early in her childhood, her family moved from Kansas to Los Angeles, California. She attended San Fernando High School from 1962-1965 where she was known among classmates to be a smart, sweet, and clever person.
After high school she married her long-time sweetheart, Larry Thomas Chandler. They had two children together, son Darren Glenn Chandler and daughter Cynthia Lee Chandler. In 1978 she was remarried to James Franklin King.
Although she did not graduate from high school, Ginger had a good head for numbers and logic, working many years as a tax preparer.
In 2012, Ginger placed her faith in Christ and began attending Grace Community Church. She enjoyed attending the yearly Christmas concerts and taking a Fundamentals of Faith class with her son Darren.
Ginger is predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Demoy Norvell, and her husband of 47 years, Jim King. She is survived by her 4 younger sisters, Brenda Trotta, Beverly Brown, Kathy Beylotte, and Valerie Darnell, son Darren Chandler and his wife Wendy Chandler, daughter Cindy DuSair and her husband Bob DuSair, grandsons Joshua Chandler, Caleb Chandler and his wife Kayla, grandson Christian Plessas, and granddaughter Cosette Plessas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a great-grandson due in August.
She will be remembered for her humor, quick wit, and excellent luck. She had a love for stand up comedy and all games of skill or chance. (Good luck beating her at a game of Scrabble!)
And… She was wonderful with animals and babies.
She loved her grandkids and would always sign off of a text or phone call with…
“Love you. Kiss my babies!”
