

Helen Magdalene Welch, age 90 was taken home by her Heavenly Father on 16 February 2017. Helen was born on 20 October 1926 to Mary Jane Jones Martin and Janwyn Robert Victor Martin in Waukesha, Wisconsin in the home of her grandparents, Robert and Mary Magdalene Jones.
She attended Waukesha High School and graduated 3rd in her class of over 350. She attended Marquette University before becoming a student cadet nurse at Milwaukee County School of Nursing from which she graduated in 1949. She gained her Registered Nurse degree by passing the Wisconsin State Boards.
She married Lawrence Edgar Welch on 21 December 1048. They were married for 59 years. He preceded her to their heavenly home in September 2006. She was also preceded in death by her Grandparents, Parents and brother Robert Martin and her son, Robert Welch. She is survived by her children Deborah Chipman and James Welch, 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Helen worked as a nurse for 40 years, an occupation she dearly loved. She belonged to the Women’s Club of Lodi, where she served on the board in several capacities; as a past president and Treasurer of Lodi Newcomers Club; past President of Wednesday Club, Past Matron of Woodbridge Oaks Chapter 118 Order of Eastern Star, Former Grand Representative of California in North Carolina, served on the Courtesy to Dignitaries Committee of the Grand Chapter of CA, Order of Eastern Star. She was past President and Treasurer of the Tiger Lily Unit of the ILA NEB Court 51 Oriental Shrine of N.A.. She was Chemoangel, and a long time member of the Christion Women’s Club where she served as a Caller and Decorating Chairman, President of the LMH Main Auxiliary for years, past President and Treasurer of the Cornichon Branch Auxiliary of the LMH Main Auxiliary.
Helen was known as the Angel Lady due to angel crafts and her house of angels. She was an avid reader, enjoyed many crafts and swimming. For years she furnished her clubs and friends with her molded chocolates and after her husband died in 2006 formed the company, Creative Angels Chocolates. She was also known for her secret recipe cheeseball.

Helen’s Celebration of Life will be held on March 25, 2017 at 2:00 P.M at Calvary Bible Church, 1101 S. Main St, Burbank, CA
