She had just celebrated her 93rd birthday last June. Having resided in Burbank since 1983, Kathleen recently, due to her declining health, moved to a board and care facility, where she was visited regularly by her four adult children.
Kathleen Morris was born to the late Michael Kinneavy and Mary Duffy in Cornamona, County Galway, Ireland, on June 15, 1920. Shortly after WWII, Kathleen immigrated to Los Angeles, where she met and married the late William Morris who was from Butte, Montana. They decided to settle in Los Angeles, as Bill had joined the LA Fire Dept. In their home on Heliotrope Drive in Hollywood, they raised four children, John Michael, Frank William, Kathleen Patricia and Robert James. All her children remember her famous lemon meringue pie and pot roast dinners with all the trimmings. She was a stay at home mom, kept busy raising four active children.
After Bill’s early and untimely death at the age of 59, Kathleen moved to Burbank to be closer to her daughter Kathy and her three grandsons. During much of this time, Kathleen volunteered countless hours at Burbank Community Hospital and also at the local elementary schools her grandsons attended. Everyone that worked the hot lunch program at St. Francis Xavier School remembers her beautiful smile and sweet personality.
Kathleen is predeceased by her two older sisters Bridget Lynch and Mary Wuitshik, and three older brothers Tommy, Martin and Michael Kinneavy.
Kathleen was always a favorite to her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Kathleen will be remembered for her enduring smile and endless capacity of appreciation and gratitude toward others. She is survived by her four children, eight grandchildren including Elise and Tyler Morris, Bryan, Jon and Kevin Stockton, and Chloe Morris and two great grandchildren, Jonah Mateo and Liam Stockton.
Her immediate family held a memorial hosted by her daughter Kathy on Friday, August 30, where they listened to Irish music, looked at old photos, shared happy memories and closed with her favorite prayers. It was an emotional but comforting tribute to this wonderful mother, grandmother and aunt and friend. She will be missed my all that knew her.
