Magdalena St. Germain

Maggie was born on March 31, 1940 in Placentia, CA. Her family relocated to Los Angeles when she was very young, and she graduated from Marshall High School in Los Feliz. Maggie was part of the greater Los Angeles legal community for over fifty years, working as a secretary in the County Public Defender’s office, in private practice, and finally in corporate law. Maggie’s stories from her time in the law offices were legendary, particularly as the main point of contact for many celebrities in legal distress. She was also particularly proud of the time she served in the Peace Corps in both Colombia and Costa Rica.

However, Maggie was not defined by her jobs, but rather by her tireless commitment to her family, friends and community. There was never a more dedicated tutor, chauffeur, and lunch-maker to her two sons, albeit with very high expectations. She was always the first to help celebrate her friends’ birthdays and other special occasions. Maggie was an ever-present leader of volunteer activities at St. Finbar Church and Elementary School in Burbank, serving at countless hot lunches, fiestas, holiday fairs, and more. After a much-deserved retirement, she gave the same time and energy to her fellow senior-citizen residents at the Park Avenue Apartments in Burbank, many of whom were regular visitors to her bedside in her final days.

Maggie is survived by her sons Albert (Laura) and Arthur (Karla) St. Germain; her beloved grandchildren Rose, Katherine, Grace, Gertrude, and William; and her sister, Esther Severino, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives on whom she left an indelible mark. Maggie was preceded in death by her husband Brian St. Germain, and her siblings Eloise Evans, Ruth Drye, and Albert Tapia.

A visitation will be held on Monday, August 17th at 5 PM at Valley Funeral Home in Burbank. The funeral mass will be on Tuesday, August 18th at 10 AM at St. Finbar Parish in Burbank, followed by an interment at San Fernando Mission Cemetery in Mission Hills.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Villa Scalabrini Retirement Center and Special Care Unit.
