One of the last beautiful memories I have with my Dear Cousin Manny at a family birthday party for his Aunt, my mother, Rosie Dearo in July 2011. 

“One of the best things to hold onto in this world is a friend.” 
Growing up together we shared many childhood memories.  Me, my brother Gilbert, and Manny were cousins and friends. As children we walked to Glenwood Elementary school, rode our bikes in the streets , watched American bandstand, spent our hot summers days at the local pool, and attended many birthday parties at the Sun Valley park.  What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose.

I’m sorry our time together was cut too short.  I sit here wondering what a void you left in our hearts. 

Thank you for all the kindness you showed me throughout the years. 

I’m so fortunate that I had the opportunity to have had you show me how to make your famous cheesecake. I giggle now thinking that before you shared with me the recipe you made me promise to never pass it to anyone that wasn’t a Medina.  I keep that lesson near and dear to my heart. 

When the time comes I will make sure your recipe gets passed on  to your grandchildren…just like I promised.

Thelma, sorry for your loss. You have my deepest condolences. Praying for comfort of yours and Manny's families hearts during this time. Manny was a kind and humble man. We all had some great times together. I first met Manny when I was a teenager in Sun Valley down the street from Sammy Diaz's house. It doesn't seem that long ago. Life goes by so fast. May Manny Rest in Peace.
