Marolyn was born on September 11, 1973 to Carolyn and David Haggai in Granada Hills, California. Marolyn grew up and went to school in Arleta, California, where she made some lifelong friends and great memories.
Marolyn raised two wonderful Sons, Jonathan Haggai and Tyler Ferris. Marolyn’s Sons were her world. She worked hard to ensure they grew up strong, successful and independent.
Marolyn started her first job at Thrifty Washer in 1995. She completed courses in accounting and bookkeeping, where she excelled as an A+ student. This launched her 30+ year career. After Thrifty closed their doors in 2019. Marolyn then worked at Moticont for 3 years.
In 2004 Marolyn met Van Cognata at Mucho Mas in Burbank. And they have been together up until her passing day. Together they were regulars at Damon’s Steakhouse every Sunday.
They made many friends over the years. Marolyn loved family get-togethers and backyard barbecues at home with Van, and their beloved dogs, Koia and Tymber. They enjoyed sitting outside together playing ball with the dogs.
Marolyn was an avid reader and especially loved reading her bible. She had weekly bible studies with her Aunt Sue. She wanted to learn the Bible inside and out, so that she could in turn teach the word of God to others. She also studied Spanish. She took courses and studied on her own when she was no longer able to go to class. She did not let her illness stop her! She was passionate about learning and continued studying until she couldn’t. Marolyn also loved crocheting and had made her sons their first baby blankets, which they still have to this day. She always appreciated things that were handmade, rather than purchased. Birds was also a passion of hers; especially hummingbirds. Wherever Marolyn spent a good amount of her time, you will find a bird feeder close by. Whether it was at work or at home, she was feeding the birds and admiring them. She enjoyed photography and made birds her favorite subject to photograph.
No matter how Marolyn was feeling, she was always more concerned about others well-being and would sincerely want to know how you are doing. She always said family is everything! And she was everything and so loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed!
