Kathleen (Katie/Kathy) was born June 1, 1937, in Los Angeles, California. She grew up in a loving home and was later joined by her baby sister Maureen. She spoke often about her childhood, a happy one, having adventures with her neighborhood friends and parties at her family’s home. She spoke of how her Mother would always greet her with a cup of hot chocolate and a big hug after school. Her Mother passed away when she was 11 years old, she missed her everyday of her life. Her beloved Father, her Aunt Ann and Aunt Nelly raised her and her sister.
She worked for the State of California, Security Pacific Bank/Bank of America and then managed her own business which took her to wonderful places such as Hawaii and the Philippines. She met her husband Rudy while working for the State of California in the Caltrans Department. When Rudy transferred up north, they continued their romance through letter writing of which there were many, they were lovingly kept all these years. They were married September 7, 1963 at Blessed Sacrament Church. Over the next few years she became the Mother of two girls, Terri and Trish. Her love for them was complete and unconditional.
Kathleen belonged to the parish of St. Charles Borromeo Church. She had a lovely voice and for 13 years was a member of the choir conducted by the famous Paul Salamunovich. She was dedicated to her Catholic faith and was steadfast in her beliefs. St Therese who also lost her mother at a very young age was her favorite saint.
She loved to knit and gifted many family members with warm cozy blankets. There was always a long list of family and friends awaiting those blankets, this gave her so much happiness. Her favorite Holiday was Christmas, she always made it magical and if it were up to her the decorations would never come down.
Kathleen leaves behind her two daughters, Terri and Trish, grandchildren Melinda, Sarah, Justin and Sierra, grandson in laws, Paul and BJ, great grandchildren Noah, Riley and Maddie and her extended family and friends. She will forever live in their hearts and memories, and they will smile.
Kathleen was a loving supporter of St Jude's Children's Hospital and The Paralyzed Veterans of America. If you would prefer to send a donation to one of these charities in lieu of flowers, that would be lovely.
