Porfirio hizo de Los Ángeles su hogar durante más de medio siglo. Trabajó durante 34 años en el departamento de ingeniería y mantenimiento del Courtyard Marriott en Sherman Oaks, California. Con ingenio, dedicación y un don para encontrar soluciones creativas, Porfirio transformaba materiales sencillos en mejoras duraderas—su toque se percibía en cada rincón del hotel. Tanto en el trabajo como en su hogar, Porfirio era imparablemente ingenioso. Se enorgullecía de resolver problemas, optimizar recursos y dejar todo mejor de lo que lo encontró, siempre buscando solución ante cualquier obstáculo. Solo necesitaba unas cuantas herramientas y su mente brillante. Como dicen sus nietos: “¡Grandpa fixes everything!”

Tras su jubilación, Porfirio y su querida esposa Evelia regresaron a Quebrantadero, cumpliendo el sueño de toda una vida de disfrutar el hogar que construyeron con amor y dedicación. En un entorno sereno y familiar, compartieron casi una década reencontrándose con hermanos, cuñados, sobrinos y raíces que siempre llevaron en el corazón. Viajaban con frecuencia a Los Ángeles y Las Vegas para convivir con sus hijos y nietos, sin dejar que la distancia apagara esos lazos de amor profundos. Su corazón bondadoso y su presencia tranquila lo convirtieron en figura paterna y abuelo para muchos más allá de su familia inmediata.

Porfirio vivió parte de su niñez y juventud en Cuernavaca, Morelos, y aunque dejó la escuela a temprana edad, fue un estudiante de la vida: inteligente, reflexivo, culto y enormemente informado. Siempre dispuesto a aprender, a conocer, a una buena plática, y a dar un consejo o tender una mano. Le entusiasmaban los partidos de fútbol, la lucha libre y reír con sus videos de YouTube; disfrutaba ver reportajes del gobierno mexicano, leer las noticias y una buena película de acción. Le gustaba pasar las tardes en su patio rodeado de familia, cuidar sus jardines y su casa, pero ante todo primero quería su cafecito con pan o una galletita por las mañanas, y le encantaba salir a caminar, especialmente con su “Bellita” y acompañado de sus perritos.

Porfirio será recordado por su generosidad, nobleza, espíritu alentador y esa sonrisa inolvidable que aliviaba el alma. Fue un hombre sencillo en el mejor sentido—honesto, sabio, trabajador y profundamente amado.

La familia agradece profundamente el amor, apoyo y compañía que han recibido durante este tiempo. El legado de Porfirio vivirá en cada uno de nosotros, en cada historia compartida y en cada rincón donde su memoria permanece viva.

Porfirio Sanchez Omaña was born in Quebrantadero, Morelos, Mexico, and passed away peacefully at his home in Burbank, California, surrounded by his beloved wife of 49 years, his daughter, and his son. He is lovingly survived by his family, including eleven grandchildren—three grandsons and eight granddaughters—each a reflection of his eternal love.

Porfirio made Los Angeles his home for more than half a century. He worked for 34 years in the engineering and maintenance department of the Courtyard Marriott in Sherman Oaks, California. With ingenuity, dedication, and a gift for finding creative solutions, Porfirio transformed simple materials into lasting improvements—his touch could be seen in every corner of the hotel. Whether at work or at home, Porfirio was tirelessly resourceful. He took pride in solving problems, using resources wisely, and leaving everything better than he found it—always finding a solution to any challenge. All he needed were a few tools and his brilliant mind. As his grandchildren say, “Grandpa fixes everything!”

After retirement, Porfirio and his beloved wife Evelia returned to Quebrantadero, fulfilling a lifelong dream of enjoying the home they had built with love and dedication. In a serene and family-centered environment, they spent nearly a decade reconnecting with siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews, and the roots they had always carried in their hearts. They traveled often to Los Angeles and Las Vegas to spend time with their children and grandchildren, never letting distance weaken those deep bonds of love. His kind heart and calm presence made him a father and grandfather figure to many beyond his immediate family.

Porfirio spent part of his childhood and youth in Cuernavaca, Morelos, and although he left school at an early age, he was a lifelong student: intelligent, thoughtful, cultured, and deeply informed. Always eager to learn, to engage in a good conversation, to offer advice, or lend a helping hand. He loved watching soccer, wrestling, and laughing at YouTube videos. He enjoyed watching Mexican government reports, reading the news, and a good action movie. He loved spending afternoons in his patio surrounded by family, caring for his garden and his home—but above all, he cherished his morning coffee with “pan dulce” or a “galletita”. He especially loved going for walks with his “Bellita,” and accompanied by the family pups.

Porfirio will be remembered for his generosity, humility, uplifting spirit, and that unforgettable smile that could soothe the soul. He was a simple man in the best sense of the word—honest, wise, hard-working, and deeply loved.

The family deeply appreciates the love, support, and companionship received during this time. Porfirio’s legacy will live on in each of us, in every shared story, and in every place where his memory remains alive.
