Sean Edward Santoyo
May 22, 1988 – July 4, 2019
Sean Santoyo was born in Burbank, California, on May 22, 1988, and passed away unexpectedly on July 4, 2019, at his home in Westwood, California. From birth, he was a bundle of energy with great determination in everything he did. His younger years were filled with sports activities on Burbank teams, including baseball, soccer, hockey and basketball. He loved competing alongside his teammates and joined in pick-up games with his large, loving family. Sean attended school at Edison Elementary, Luther Burbank Middle School and John Burroughs High School, where he was on the baseball, golf and tennis teams. He was an exceptional student with a deep love of learning.
After high school, Sean went to California State University, Northridge, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics. His first part-time job was at Dodger Stadium, a perfect fit for this young Dodger fan (coincidentally, the last World Series the Dodgers won was the year Sean was born). He went on to work at a law firm and for the past six years, Sean had a career in the financial industry at JSF Financial as a portfolio stock analyst. Outside of work, he remained an avid sports enthusiast playing golf, tennis and ice hockey. His quest for knowledge never waned, and he could often be found studying economics and finance in the UCLA library. He even recently taught himself French because he had French co-workers and because of his favorite tennis player, Roger Federer.
Sean’s family will miss him immensely. He is survived by his parents, Edward and Jeanne Santoyo; sister Erica Santoyo; grandfathers Eric Harrison and Richard Santoyo; aunts and uncles Michael and Barbara Santoyo, Jon and Stephanie Funk, Phil and Mickie Ponek, Richard and Kari Rohr, Jim and Suzy Frankian, Rick and Pattie Harrison, Steve and Cindy Burton, and Rob and Brenda Harrison; along with 21 cousins. He was predeceased by his grandmothers Joy Harrison and Mary Santoyo.
The family is grateful for all of the kindness and support they have received from their relatives, friends and Sean’s workplace, JSF Financial.Sean was bright, competitive, kind, quiet, curious and determined — a unique mix of perfection. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 21, in Burbank. For additional information, you may send an email to SantoyoMemorialService@gmail.com.

When I think of Sean, I think of the super sweet little guy in my first grade class at Edison Elementary and how when I got to know his amazing mom. Darling, smart, kind . 💙 Heartbroken to hear the news - too, too soon. Sending love to entire Santoyo family.

My Dear Grandson,
Thank you for making me a proud grandfather.
May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in
the hollow of His hand.
Love, Your Grandpa Eric

My son Jonathan played baseball with Sean at Burroughs. I remember Sean as a quiet but good lefty and had fun sitting with Ed during games. Our condolences on Sean’s passing and our blessings to the family.
