

Stacy Shrout Schumacher, born January 8, 1941 in Sioux Falls, SD, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026 at home with her husband, George, by her side after 61 years of marriage. She was 85 years old.
She lived in Glendale, California throughout her adult life. She is survived by her children, Lisa, Eric, and Amy and by her cherished grandchildren, Caitlin, Nathan, Mason, Rose, and Madolyn.
Stacy graduated from Rosary College in Illinois with a degree in Sociology. She began her long career as a director of religious education, first at St. Robert Bellarmine and then at St. Francis Xavier, both in Burbank.
After retiring from St. Francis, Stacy began a second career at Burbank Temporary Aid (BTAC). From 2000 to 2020, Stacy both volunteered and worked for this agency that she loved so much. She held various positions including Administrator, Client Services Coordinator and Executive Director. A title was not important to her, instead she felt passionately about helping those in need with dignity and respect. In recognition of her outstanding service, she was awarded the Volunteer Legacy Award in 2023.
She is also survived by her siblings, Mike, Pat, Sally and in-laws Art, Carol, Carol, Jane, Jim, Dale, and Vicky. She is preceded in death by her parents, Herb and Marie Shrout, her brothers, Jim and Doug Shrout, her sister Sue Carpenter and her newborn son, Scotty.
Stacy will leave a lasting impression on the City of Burbank. She touched thousands of lives and cared about all those she encountered. It was once said that, "She knows the name of every unhoused person in Burbank!”
