Mrs. Ada Daphne Merle Holmes

HOLMES, Daphne It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear Mom, Daphne on February 24th in her sleep. Her boundless energy and commitment to her family and community was and is an inspiration to all that knew her. Daphne was predeceased by her husband George (1987) and son Steven (1984). She leaves behind her sons Greg (Cathy), Marc (Tina) grandchildren Robert, Randie, Lisa, Jennifer, James, Heather, and Andrew and her cherished great-grandchildren, Oliver, Rebecca, Benjamin, Abigail, Lily, Jacob, and Wilson. She also leaves behind, sister Joyce in England and many loving nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends. Daphne was born in Ditchling West Sussex, England. She followed her husband, as a war bride, to Canada in 1945. Daphne was very involved in her community of Little Mountain-Mt. Pleasant. She was one of the founding members of the Little Mountain Seniors Live Wires and on the board of Riley Park Community Center. She also volunteered for 27 years weighing babies at the Mid Main Clinic. Daphne was well known for her beautiful English garden on 23rd/24th Ave. Vancouver and never hesitated to offer a rose or two to passersby's. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at St. Vincent's Langara Care Home who made her 2nd home so enjoyable. Mom had requested that there be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vancouver Children's Hospital in Daphne's name. We will miss her terribly and she will live on in our hearts forever.
