Akiko Shoji was a loving Wife and Mother of two Sons. On October 19th, 2018, Akiko succumbed to her battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at the age of 76.
Akiko was born in Gobo, Japan on February 20th, 1942. She grew up in post war Japan and there met and fell in love with her future Husband Yoshiro. She immigrated to Vancouver in 1964 and was married in the fall of 1964. Her many passions included flowers, travelling, karaoke and spending time playing and making crafts with her grandchildren. She valued her many friendships and looked fondly upon the time she spent with her close friends while working at Ocean Fisheries and volunteering at the Vancouver Buddhist Church.
Akiko was predeceased by her parents, Masanobu and Kimi Nakata, and sisters Mieko and Akemi. She is survived by her husband Yoshiro and her two sons Phillip (Bobbi jo) and Yoshinori (Lana). She will also be sadly missed by her loving grandchildren Dylan, Jacob, Rylan and Declan.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, November 4th at 3pm in the Vancouver Buddhist Temple, 220 Jackson Avenue, Vancouver, British Columbia.
