It is with great sadness that we announce our dad Allan Ching Foo Lam passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 21, 2024 at approximately 2:30pm. He is survived by his wife Ying Har, daughters Tiffany (Ernest) Pallas, Wendy (Brian) Ho, son Gary (Adriana) and grandchildren Carson and Teresa-Lynn.
Born on November 19, 1935 in Guandong, China, Allan was the 9th of 10 children and moved to Hong Kong very early in his childhood to seek work and a new life outside of communist China. There, while working in the restaurant business, he met his wife and had 3 children. At the age of 40, Allan decided to pick up his family and move to Canada for better opportunities. Once settled in, he continued to work in the restaurant business and was a beloved member of that community of workers. He also worked a full second job to provide for his family, and worked as custodian at Mount Saint Joseph Hospital, again earning much love for his sunny disposition and quick smile. When he finally retired for good, he took on his next great role: grandpa. He doted on his beloved grandson, Carson and you could tell he enjoyed every minute of it. Then later came Teresa-Lynn, and now dad was happiest. He had 2 grandkids that he could spoil. And spoil he did. In the end, all Allan wanted was for his family to be happy and healthy. He had spent his entire life working for the benefit of others. It’s now time for his break.
Rest well, dad. You’ve earned it.
