It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Amelia Pecile who went to her eternal rest in heaven on June 10th at the age of 83. Our mom was born on April 20th, 1941 in Orsara di Puglia, Italy and was one of seven siblings. She moved to Canada when she was 17, met our dad and was married by 19. Not long after, they welcomed a beautiful son Claudio, followed by Sonia (Mike) and completed the family with Sara (Jeffrey). Our mom was amazing, full of light, joy, compassion and warmth. Above all, her grandsons Luca and Noa were her everything. She is predeceased by husband Gino, sister Antonietta and her parents, Matteo and Anna. Our mom leaves behind her brothers and sister, their spouses and many family and friends in Canada and in Italy. A friend to many, she was a cherished member of the St. Helen’s Community, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and love. To know our mom was to love her. She had an infectious smile and was welcoming to all. Although we are heartbroken by her sudden passing, we feel so privileged that we had the honour to call her mom. In lieu of flowers, we ask for a donation in her honour to the heart and stroke foundation or do a random act of kindness on her behalf. Because our mom was a gift of light, we ask that you honour her by wearing bright coloured clothing to the funeral. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00pm on Friday, June 21, 2024 at St. Helen’s Parish, 3860 Triumph Street, Burnaby. Followed by entombment at the South Mausoleum, Ocean View Burial Park, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby.
