Taking after his father, as a young man he apprenticed as a bricklayer, a trade he practiced for most of his working life.
After his military service, where he served as a radio operator in postings to Calabria and Sardinia, Angelo emigrated to Uruguay in 1958 on an opportunity to work in the building trades.
In 1961 he reunited with his sister Olga in Vancouver and worked at the Vancouver Pipe & Foundry Company.
In 1964 he met and married Maria Grazia Renzullo. Their long life together included five children and six grandchildren.
Returning to bricklaying in 1964, for the next 30 years Angelo worked on numerous construction projects across the Lower Mainland. His craft is evident in the new gym at Notre Dame Senior Secondary, Vancouver Fire Hall #14, Renzullo Food Market, and in the homes of a great many family and friends.
In 1993 Angelo suffered a serious workplace accident that ended his career but not his role as a loving husband, father and grandfather, nor his many close friendships or connections to his community.
A tireless craftsman, who was often strict and lived by the motto “one word is not enough and two is too many,” Angelo also expressed a deep sense of fairness and a strong sense of humour. He doted on his grandchildren and never hesitated to express his love to Maria.
On May 23rd, on the 56th anniversary of his marriage, Angelo died peacefully at home, in the presence of his wife, children and grandchildren. He leaves a large space.
Angelo is survived by his wife, Maria, children Rosanna (Brian), Paolo (Ruth), Lina, Franca (Elvy) and Tony (Michelle), and grandchildren Lauren, Madeleine, Antaeus, Mikella, Angelo and Milano. He was predeceased by brother Antonio, sister Olga.
