1915-2013
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Anne Yasayko on January 17, 2013. We are confident that she, having made peace with God, is in a better place, but we grieve because of our loss. Anne was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, eldest daughter of Nicholas and Dorothy Spachinsky. There she met the love of her life, John (Jack) Yasayko, whom she married in 1937. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, son Larry (Gloria), sisters Alice, Margaret, and Sophia. Anne is survived by her sons, Dr. Jack (Sabine) and Dr. Harry (Beatrice), brother, Dr. Harry Sparkes (Mirta), and sister Sally Gerdenits, as well as six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a nephew and six nieces. Anne unselfishly devoted her life to caring for her family whose concerns always superseded her own. By 1968 most of the family members had relocated to the Vancouver area, so Anne and Jack moved here as well. She enjoyed excellent health until sustaining a second fractured hip. Although handicapped during the last few years of her life, she remained alert to the end and continued to enjoy outings and family visits. Anne will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Special thanks are due to Dr. Peter Chung and to the outstanding caregivers at Harmony Court Care Centre. A Funeral Service will be held at the Chapel of Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby on Saturday, January 26th, 2013 at 1:00 pm. Interment, Ocean View Burial Park, followed by a reception in the Tea Lounge of the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to The Salvation Army would be welcomed.
