Mom I Miss You

I miss you. Night time is the hardest because it's quiet and my thoughts are all for you.
I know I don't wish you back for pain, sadness and suffering. It's me. I miss you.                                                  Am I being selfish for missing the way you loved me? Worried about me? The way you knew my heart?
Am I being selfish because I cry because my first family is all gone? 
I feel so guilty for coming back, I should have stayed. I should have stayed. I should have stayed. I thought there would be time, that they'd call me and I'd go back. 
I'm so sorry Mom. I miss you.

I wonder if it hurts when your heart just stops beating?

I will watch for you mom, a lady in a blue dress, a swallow, the color pink.

I will listen for you mom, a whistling tea kettle, the 'tsss' from a hairspray can, Elvis Presley.

Watch for me mom with your arms wide open, a smile and a safe place ready.

Listen for me Mom, dogs panting at my side, probably asking for directions, perhaps whistling.

Until we meet again Mom, in a better place, a place without dark clouds.
