

Her heritage was that of Greek, Irish and French Canadian. She was a talented opera singer, musician and teacher in the Vancouver school system. Her students will long remember her for her talents, her patience, and the knowledge she shared.
Catherine received her BA in music and music composition from Mills College and her teaching certificate from UBC.
While she lived in California she met and married Melville R. Westenberg.
A daughter was born to them, Dorothy Ann Marie Westenberg (Meeks).
Catherine studied and performed opera singing all of her life in many places, such as Vancouver, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Kalamazoo, New York City and even White Rock. She spent several years in Tucson, Arizona, to be near her brother who was the music director/ conductor of the Tucson Symphony, and after her daughter married, she returned to Vancouver where she married Theodore W. Larson at the family home on Point Grey Road; they have resided in the Vancouver area for 35 years.
Catherine loved time with her family, cooking, teaching and singing for family and friends. She loved the beauty of nature and animals.
She leaves behind her adoring husband, Theodore, and her daughter, Dorothy Westenberg Meeks (William), their 4 grandchildren Clifton A. Meeks, Cathryn Alexys Jack (Derrick), Emily Marie Cox (Jason), William Adam Meeks; greatgrandchildren Thaya Marie Jack and Clara Ann Jack; stepson Graham Larson (Fiona), their children Abigail, Gordon and Cameron; and stepdaughters Erika Gartrell (Joe) their daughter, Heather and Rebecca Olson; nieces Denise Millar, Daphne Millar and nephews, Jason (Blair) Millar and Damon Millar and dear cousins, including the James Christakis family and many friends.
Services will be held Tuesday, July 17, 11:30 am, there will be a viewing prior to service at 11-11:30 am at
