

With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Chang Kook Kim on March 2, 2022, in the care of the compassionate staff at Delta View Campus of Care. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Tae Shin, children Karen and Ken (Maxine), and treasured grandson Lennox.
Chang Kook was born to his late parents Kim, Kwang Suk and Lee, Kyu Sil in Yongchon County, Pyongan province, Korea. His father was a pastor and Chang Kook grew up as the seventh child in a family of six boys and two girls. He attended Dae Gwang High School and Soongsil University in Seoul, Korea graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Chang Kook immigrated to Canada in 1975 seeking better opportunities. Getting married in 1977, his wife also immigrated to Canada. He was a proud dad of two children and grandpa to one grandson. An avid golfer with an adventurous spirit, he enjoyed taking his family camping and on road trips. Known as “Chuck” by his work buddies, he retired in 2008 working almost thirty years for an auto hauling company. In his retirement, he enjoyed being active through daily outings to the local swimming pool and regular walks in his neighbourhood and local park.
A Celebration of Life for Chang Kook will be held Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 10:00 AM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal Oak, Burnaby, BC V5G3M1 with a graveside burial service to follow.
