Chul Woo Lee, a devoted family man whose kindness and humour touched everyone who knew him, passed away peacefully surrounded in love with his family on June 17, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 81.
Born on August 17, 1943, in Hamyang, South Korea, Chul Woo Lee’s life spanned continents. After finishing high school, he worked at a passport office in Seoul. He later worked overseas in Vietnam and Saudi Arabia before immigrating to Vancouver in 1978. Before his retirement, he worked as a Fare Box Attendant for Coast Mountain Bus Company for many years.
Married for 47 years to Woo Kyung Lee, his loving wife, Chul Woo Lee cherished the simple pleasures of life: long nature walks with his wife, cheering for the Toronto Blue Jays, sharing stories over coffee with friends, and traveling whenever possible. Above all, he found joy in bringing laughter to others and in being a loving presence to his two sons, Arnold and Byron, while bugging them to no end. He said it was his job.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to celebrate Chul Woo Lee’s life on Thursday, July 17 at 11 am at Ocean View Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in his memory to the BC Cancer Foundation.
