I had the joy of working with David for many years. A kind mentor, most entertaining deskmate, top-notch personal shopper, supreme coconut bun pusher, and most of all a wonderful friend. 

His love for his family was always apparent as he spoke with great affection about Marian and their boys.

I'm attaching my favorite David pic where he was  trying to convince us to attend a ZZ Top concert (though he himself was not going) and was showing us how to "rock out".

Tribute to David

Marian worked at Pangea for over 24 years, and not only was she one of our most cherished employees, but her husband David was one of our favourite spouses. As our annual Christmas dinner approached each year, my wife Teresa would always say, “I sure am looking forward to talking with David.”

When the evening came, if the seat next to David was open, Teresa would be sure to sit there, eager to hear his funny, intriguing and heartfelt stories from his days working at the CBSA.  His gift for storytelling was always one of the highlights of our Christmas gatherings.

For me, I admired the close-knit bond of their family—Marian, David, Ryan, and Nathan. Through Marian’s stories, we felt like we shared in the boys’ growing-up years—their various interests (Lego!), their education, and eventually their successful careers. Marian and David were soft and loving as parents, yet firm and always united.

Our hearts break for the loss of David and for the sorrow their family must bear. Throughout life, we meet many people, but only some leave a lasting impression that stays with us. For Teresa and me, that was David.

The executive and membership of the Canada Border Services Agency Retiree’s Association (CBSA RA) extends our sincere condolences to the family, friends, and associates of our departed colleague.

David's dedicated service to Canada and the CBSA and its legacy organizations will always be remembered.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

I recall meeting David in the late eighties, we work together many times during our careers - as Customs Officers assigned to special enforcement operations and as Investigators.  Socially, we got together at many group gatherings; including a cruise / travel adventure to LA.       
We will always value those memories.

I remember Uncle Dave as truly sincere, down-to-earth, and warm-hearted. He would always joke around and would make our family gatherings so lively. We would have good laughs about the mutual people that we know from my workplace.
Thank you Uncle Dave for all the warm memories! You will be greatly missed! May you rest in peace.

Uncle Dave, you’ll be deeply missed — your laughter, your warmth, and your presence will never be forgotten. Thank you for the memories, and the good times you gave us. Our family gatherings won’t be the same without you, but your spirit will always be with us. RIP

Our hearts are broken for we lost a dear soul. We will miss Dave’s kind, generous, uplifting being. Thanks for all the laughs you brought to our family, you will be sorely missed. Forever in our hearts.

I am very sorry for your loss.  Although I work in Toronto, our paths crossed many times as we worked for the CBSA.  I was blessed to have met David and share many laughs! Truly a beautiful soul taken too early.

I’m deeply sad that you never got to meet your great-niece, Evelyn. As much as you were such a loving and caring uncle to me, I know you would have been just as amazing of a great uncle to her. I will tell her all about you when she grows older, so she knows the kind of person you were and how much you meant to all of us. We will never forget you—you’ll always live on in our hearts.

One of my favorite memories of Uncle Dave was from my wedding day. He was the one who cut the pig for us—a role that felt so fitting, because everyone in the family knew him as the chef, the one who made every gathering feel special with his food. Later, I heard that his hand hurt afterward, but in true Uncle Dave fashion, he never complained. He did it with love, making sure everyone was happy and had a piece of the pig to enjoy.

David, I met you since 1992 when I joined the Agency. It's always a pleasure to have known you. We always had a good chat about work and families at work and social gatherings. You are dearly missed. Rest in peace.

On your big day, buddy!  Thank you for asking me to be your groomsmen.  It was an honour. It was one of your happiest days. You have been a good friend and I will always hold that close to my heart.
