Sally and Family, so sorry to hear about Barry's passing. I had the privilege of working in the Fire Prevention Department with Barry. I transcribed many of his cassette tapes Barry did while on arson fire, by the end of the tapes, I felt that I had been at the fire as Barry was so thorough, his attention to every detail was amazing. Barry always had a smile if his face and was willing to help'¦.. Rest in Peace.

 We were connected through Burnaby fire inspections and later often met one another at Safeway.

Condolences to Barry's family. As an investigator with the Insurance Crime prevention Bureau I had the privilege of
 working with Barry on a number of fire investigations and
 also attending courses and IAAI meetings with him on numerous
 occasions. Barry was always willing to share his expertise and
 knowledge of which I was a grateful recipient. Barry will be sadly

I am the Past President of the International Association of Arson Investigators. I was also manager of Insurance Crime Prevention Bureau. Our Special Agents were Fire Investigators for the Insurance Industry. Our office was located in the Sperling Plaza very close to the Burnaby Fire Hall. Our Special Agents worked very closely with Barry and RCMP Cst Phil Juby of Burnaby Detachment. Barry was an excellent fire investigator and he was a pleasure to work with. Dear Sally and Family. I just got news of Barry's passing. It saddens me to hear this, as I lost my wife nearly 2 years ago in Halifax. Barry was my Arson Trainer from 1983 to 89, where we attended hundreds of fires together. He taught me how to find out causes, and was so patient with me as an RCMP member. He and Rick Roberts used to laugh about how our rules were, and he always went that extra to make sure I knew everything. I was fortunate to become an expert for court. I called Barry over to Surrey for the Lee fire in 1990, where two people lost their lives to Arson. It raised complaints with Surrey Fire, who left the scene to me and the Provincial. You might say Barry taught me more than I could know.
 His favorite saying was 'when the water comes out the Chimney, the fire is out'. My deepest condolences to Sally, and the family and friends. God Bless Barry. Phil Juby. Sgt. RCMP Retired. Kentville Nova Scotia.

Saddened to hear Barry passed away after his devastating stroke. 'Brew' as we liked to call him,( named for his willingness to fetch a cold beer for his hunting partners ) was an accomplished outdoorsman who just weeks ago enjoyed his 40th moose hunt on the Parsnip River. Thanks for all you have shared with us. We're gonna miss you next year buddy !

I for one am going to miss him & offer my condolences.
 Barry was always upbeat, had a smile & was generally interested in how other Retirees were doing in life.
 He brought many qualities to the BFD through the jobs he took on & his professionalism as a dispatcher is where he stood out in my mind.

 Barry later took on the challenge of becoming an Emergency dispatcher,this he did with with lots of enthusiasm and professionalism
 I could not start to compute how many hours of his own time Barry donated to make Burnaby such a great City.It is people like Barry who helped Burnaby reach Canadas #1 place in McLeans magazines great Cities.
