

Don was born in Vancouver, BC on March 13, 1938, where he met and later married Janice Christine Jang on August 8, 1959 at Trinity Baptist Church. Don became a salesperson for Grinnell Fire Protection, Vipond Fire Protection and retired at True North Fire Protection. Donald and Janice moved their family to Calgary, AB in 1984 due to work. He worked on projects as big as Petro Canada Tower, Bankers Hall I, Hyatt Regency Hotel and several condo developments, mostly in Calgary, AB. In his spare time Don enjoyed sports, such as bowling and horseracing. He loved to eat and one of his greatest moments was when his racehorse, Helushka took first place at the Exhibition Park in BC on May 15th, 1976. After the passing of his wife, Janice in 2007, Don moved back to British Columbia and lived the remainder of his days with his son Carter and dog Sheldon in Chilliwack where he reconnected with family and friends. As he was affectionately known as “The Don” he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and son. Donald was predeceased and joins his wife Janice Wong, father Shupon Wong and mother Betty Wong (nee Chong). Donald will be deeply missed and always remembered by his daughter Stephanie Wong Erhardt (Curran); son Carter Wong; brothers, Robert Wong, Ernie (Davina) Wong, and Benny (Karolyn) Wong; sister Linda (David) Moree; and his first granddaughter, Adora Jade Erhardt; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will held be at Ocean View Funeral Home (4000 Imperial Street) Burnaby, BC on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. The cremation committal will take place after the memorial service at Ocean View Burial Park.
