

Robert Dung Choi Hong, 73, of Burnaby, BC, passed away surrounded by his loved ones, on September 9, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was predeceased by father, Ping Gee and mother, Lan Sik. He is survived by his caring wife, JoJo; his six loving children (and their spouses): Lisa, Geneva (Keith), Yvette, Shanon (Shaun), Norman, and Tedman (Michelle); his nine beloved grandchildren: Santana, Justin, Nathan, Kaden, Gianna, Micah, Jonah, Maddison, and Mackenzie; and his sister, Lai King Chang.
Robert was born on April 2, 1949 to parents, Ping Gee and Lan Sik in Enping, China. He immigrated to Pitt Meadows BC, Canada with his family in 1952, where he attended school and worked at his parent’s restaurant. He then met and married his first wife, Natasia in 1971. Together they had five children (Geneva, Yvette, Shanon, Norman, and Tedman) over their 17-year marriage. After they divorced, he met and married his wife JoJo, in 1994. Together for over 28 years until his passing.
Robert was a caring and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He instilled in his children the meaning of hard work and perseverance throughout his restaurant endeavours and working career. Robert loved nature, trail walks, travel and especially food. He enjoyed cooking gourmet meals and feasting with his family. Robert’s strength and courage, especially during his recovery from triple bypass surgery in 2018 as well as battling colon cancer in 2021 were evident. His determination will always be remembered. His memories live forever in those whose lives he touched.
A celebration of life for Robert is scheduled for Friday, September 30th, 2022 at 1pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, located at 3789 Royal Oak Avenue, Burnaby, BC. Following the service, there will be a reception in memory of Robert at 4-6pm. A viewing will be held Thursday, September 29th, 2022 from 730-930pm.
