Everytime I think of Auntie I picture her with a beautiful smile. I still remember her laughter as it was yesterday. Sharing family dim sum outing with her, Eudora, ah Yee and my family + aunt, it was so much fun. I still have memories of me hanging out at Eudoras and having her visit. She always smiled and laughed a lot. I will always cherish these memories. Rest in peace auntie.

I was sad to hear of the passing of Elaine. I've known her for about 10 years at Viterra. I've enjoyed listening to her stories. She was always happy, smiling, and enthusiastic.

My brother and I worked with Elaine at the Alberta Wheat Pool for over 25 years.we both felt that she was one of the hardest workers at the elevator,had a very strong work ethic and always cared for her fellow workers.Have many good memories of working with her.I look forward to seeing her again in the resurrection in paradise,

My deepest condolences to the Chan family. I had the pleasure of working with Elaine for 20 years at Cascadia Terminal. Elaine's smile would fill the room with happiness and her cooking was unbelievable! Elaine is one of the hardest workers and had the best attitudes of anyone I have ever had the pleasure of working with. 
Elaine truly looked after people and treated me like a son and for that I'm truly thankful. She will truly be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her!!

There were many times that other supervisors expressed disappointment with the quality or speed of an assigned task at the grain elevator.  I would say to them, "maybe we should have Elaine show them how to do it" or " Elaine  could do that in half that time".  Usually I was referring to men who were twice her stature. Elaine was special person who always lead by example.  

Auntie was a beautiful soul.  I'm so heartbroken yet relieved that she is no longer in pain.  I wish I was able to see her more in the last years.  

One of my forever connections with her is that we shared a pet.  She helped take in my bunny "Jai Jai" over a decade ago when I could no longer keep him.  She took the best care of him and the last time I got to see her was when they had to put him down.  I will never forget that day...I felt like I got to know her heart in its entirety within the short time we were at the vet.  She loved him so much and gave him the best life ever.  For that I am forever grateful.  

Thank you Auntie. You have left such an amazing legacy behind in all of your amazing children and you must be so proud.  I'm blessed to have them in my life!

To Eudora, Adelphie and Jason: My thoughts and prayers are with you.  I hope to crash a sibling meal or night soon and hear more about Auntie.  Forever young and forever loved by all.

I first met Elaine at Adelphie and Bryan’s wedding. She came over to our table to welcome us all and I was struck by her humour and high energy and her warmth. I saw how  my dear friend Adelphie is so much like her Mom. The  whole family seemed like a very tight and close unit but one that would welcome you into their fold. Elaine so obviously adored her kids and they her. I went to high-tea with her and some friends a couple of times and got to know Elaine  better. She was very open about sharing her life and I really admired her for living life to the fullest and making every second count. I’m sorry I won’t  get the chance to get to know Elaine even more  but feel honoured to have spent  some time with her and am so fortunate to call her wonderful daughter Adelphie my friend. Elaine should be so proud of the wonderful people she brought into this world. She will live on through them.

  My sincere condolences to the Chan family.  I have known Elaine for 33 years.  We both started working at the grain terminal since September of 1987.  Elaine was among one of the first 3 female grain workers of Alberta Wheat Pool (now known as Viterra Cascadia Terminal).
  Elaine was a caring, compassionate, courageous, helpful, kind, thoughtful co-worker, daughter, friend; loving and responsible mother and sister to her family.  She always greeted everyone with her beautiful smile and treated everyone at work with kindness, love and respect.  She was like a Mom to all who knew her.  She was very proud of her 3 children Eudora, Adelphieand Jason of how they have shown kindness and love to their friends and relatives.
  Elaine:  You have done a wounderful job as "Super Mom"!  We will all miss you very much my friend!

I feel very lucky to have met Elaine. She raised such a beautiful daughter, I’m happy to have met the woman who made my friend Adelphie such a strong woman. She was always so happy and joyful to be around when she came to high tea with us girls. I am so sorry for you and your families enormous loss.

The first time I met Elaine at work was when I worked on Old House Cleaner Floor 29 years ago.  I will never forget her angelic smile, her warmth, and her gracious attitude towards me.  She may be small in stature but big in heart, intellect, and courage.  She was the one who had cleverly shown me how to pull on the rope to manually open a cleaning bin without throwing my back out.  Throughout the years that I have known Elaine, she treated everyone at work with nothing but love, kindness, and respect.  I am deeply honoured and grateful to have known and worked with Elaine.  I will miss you very much, my dear friend!  I offer my sincere condolences to Elaine's Family.

I never got to know Auntie Elaine really well, but I have bright memories of her warmth and her smile. More than that, I remember how proudly she always spoke of her children, even when making jabs at them in her stories. I see her strength and kindness in her children and know that she must be very proud of them. Auntie has touched so many and will live on in these precious memories and feelings.

I worked with Elain at Viterra for about 10 years. I will always remember our conversations, funny and serious ones as well. I will never forget Elaine's Christmas gifts I received from her every year- home made chicken legs delivered to me straight from the over (still warm!). She was more than a coworker, she was like an aunt to me. 
You can not smile when you think of Elaine. She will always be in my heart.  

I wanted to express my sincere condolences to the Chan family. I worked with Elaine for 23 years and she was always such a sweet lady. I don't recall Elaine ever being angry or negative, just a pleasure to work with always. I know she will be missed very much at Cascadia and by all who knew her. Big hugs to all her family.

Auntie Elaine was a wonderfully kind person with an infectious laugh and a great sense of style. The coolest Auntie I know! She was an amazing, strong woman and I can see a lot of her kind heart, generosity, and great sense of humour in her 3 kids.

I remember hanging out after school with Adelphie a lot at their house and sometimes on weekend outings too. Auntie Elaine always welcomed me with the biggest smile and didn't mind having another kid around her house causing trouble. She sometimes kept me over for dinner and always had the tastiest things prepped along side of funny stories.

Auntie, I will miss you and remember your warm smiles. Thank you for everything.

How precious time is...

We had a chance to visit with Ling Yee about ten days before she passed.  Never in a million years did I think that would the last time I would see her.  My heart broke into shards from shock and  sadness...  it still heaves at the thought.  I was so overjoyed to see her and "the kids", and Ying Yee, that we spent the visit just happily being with each other, conversation didn't really matter.  I never thought that would have been my only chance to learn how she had been or to tell her anything about what was happening in my life... I already had thoughts of a family bbq this summer... selfishly, I felt robbed of time with her and what I will miss with her passing.  Still do.

After I heard the news, my mind reached for all the little memories I had of her from my childhood... she was my pretty, cool aunt that I thought could do anything.  She was always up for anything and orchestrated a lot of fun stuff for us growing up.  I loved her contagious laugh and sense of adventure, things that I'll never forget.  One of my favourite memories was being up at the water fountains at Queen Elizabeth Park.  Big open space, big fountains... beautiful sunny day.  She wanted to race me. I was maybe around 14 I think.  I'm not sure what got into her but with a twinkle in her eye and an overflow of confidence in me, I accepted.  Who knew Ling Yee could run like an ostrich.  She did not hold back! Thankfully this humbled early-teen didn't completely embarrass herself, and propelled by shock, just beat her by a nose.   Just more proof  how cool my aunt was.      

Thank you, Ling Yee, for being so fun, kind, and inspiring for me growing up.  You were fierce in standing up for yourself and others, and taught me the meaning of an indomitable spirit.   I will always hear and embrace your laughter.

I've only met Auntie Elaine a handful of times and yet this breaks my heart. No words to truly express how i feel but this I would like to share. Auntie Elaine, you have raised 3 wonderful children that have grown into strong and wonderful humans. I am so privileged and blessed to know your girls. As a friend of Adel's, I see a reflection of you in her with the enormous sense of humor, big heart and generosity.

I believe my first time meeting Auntie Elaine was at the end of the Ride to Conquer Cancer back in 2011.  She and her family went down to the States to surprise Adelphie at the finish line.  Although our interaction was short, I remember her big friendly smile and the look of pride on her face.  At Adelphie and Bryan's wedding I learned that Auntie had a great sense of humour and was an excellent storyteller.  Over the years we were lucky enough to be invited to family dinners during the holidays at Adelphie and Bryan's.  Auntie always treated us like part of her family.  Her warmth and kindness are things that I will remember the most.  And her stuffed chicken wings!  I remember trying them for the first time and I had to try hard to not embarrass myself and eat the entire plate.
We didn't get to know Auntie as well as we'd like.  But we are close friends of Adelphie's.  From the stories Adelphie had told us, Auntie was an amazing mother.  She clearly raised 3 wonderful kids.  As for Adelphie who is kind, caring, thoughtful and family oriented, I believe this is a reflection of the kind of person Auntie was.
We are touched and humbled by her love for our kids.  Every Christmas she would pass on thoughtful gifts and beautiful cards to Adelphie to give to our children.  I have kept all the cards and I will make sure the kids will know about their loving and kind Elaine Por Por.
Rest in peace, Auntie Elaine.  Thank you for always treating us like part of your family.  We will miss you.

Auntie Elaine always welcomed anyone with her warm bright smile and welcoming personality.   She has raised 3 outstanding kids and I see her warm personality live on in all her kids.  I am forever grateful to have had the pleasure to know her.  She will be dearly missed.

First time I met Elaine was at Adelphie’s bridal shower.  A convoy of postie girls made their way from Coquitlam to the family home in the depths of Vancouver.  Wow, were we all in for an amazing afternoon! The most funniest crazy delightfully sarcastic gaggle of lovely Asian women any of us ever had the pleasure to meet .   Elaine might have been  small in stature but her warmth , bright  smile and wit filled the room ... and all our hearts.  She made us all so welcome .. leaving with full bellies & faces that literally hurt from laughing so much. 
My favourite  chuckle was Elaines  lovely heckling toast to her daughter ... of how much she adored her soon to be new son-in-law Bryan  as at least that would make it tolerable to keep such a disappointing daughter around . It was amazing from a such a little sweet lady to say something so wonderfully offside 🥰
It’s clear to see where my beautiful friend Adelphie got her spirit & gumption along with huge loving heart from.

My name is Bryan and I am the husband of Adelphie, Elaine's second daughter. 

From the beginning, Elaine welcomed me into her family with open arms. We enjoyed talking to each other and when she found out I spoke Cantonese, our conversations expanded. We will talk about everything from her childhood to raising her 3 kids. She was very candid and she had many great humorous stories.  

Like Adelphie, I took to calling her Mom and I think she liked that.
I think she saw me more like a son than a son-in-law and I saw her like another Mother to me.

I will miss Elaine dearly and wherever she is now, she's probably telling everyone some funny stories about her kids.

P.S. Elaine was a fine and gentle lady.  She will understand.
