Emily Madsen (Robinson) quietly slipped away from us on Friday January 3, 2020 at the age of 96. She was born in Northern Ireland and immigrated to Canada when she was 3 years old, with her Mom, Dad and 4 siblings. She grew up on a farm in Saskatchewan. After her marriage they moved to Vancouver. She became employed by B.C.Tel as an operator and worked in that position for many years before becoming an engineering clerk. After her retirement she volunteered at the TeePee Shop, did daycare for her grandson, drove elderly church members to church. Volunteered in the kitchen at Collingwood & Wilson United Churches & many other helping hand jobs, including quilt tying & outreach visitations. She was also on the rent review board for the Church Towers Seniors Apartments. Em was always ready to lend a helping hand. From crosswords to walking to parasailing at 84 years old – rarely was she idle or ill. She loved to garden & hosted many afternoon garden parties for her friends. She was also a beautiful ballroom dancer. Karl & Emily were a very elegant couple on the dance floor. She had a strong belief in giving back to her community. Love of her family & her kind & caring way will be remembered & missed by all. Emily is predeceased by her husband Karl Madsen.
Her 4 brothers John, Jim, Henry & Dick Robinson. Her 2 sisters Elsie Duffy and Edie Destobel. Her great grandson Greyson Hancheroff. She is survived by her daughters Bev Crews (Rob), Barb Hancheroff (Brad), 3 grandchildren – Shannon, Kelly & Tyler & 5 great grandchildren. Her older sister Phyllis and many nieces & newphews.
