Uncle Ernie was one of the kindest, easy going men I knew. I have such fond memories of his presence in my childhood. Thanks for the memories 💕 Love Julie xx

Ernie was my Godfather, also my cousin and was always a cool guy. He was good to Mom, Kal Kelly, and it was great to visit with him whenever we ran into each other at family events.

I remember the day that Uncle Ernie bought the land for his Diary Queen.  I was 5 years old and my brother was 4. We were in the back seat of my dad's car, Mike Munro, Uncle Ernie's boyhood friend. It was a cold and rainy Friday night. Dad parked the car on the sideroad next to the empty lot which Uncle Ernie wanted for the Dairy Queen.  Uncle Ernie went up to the the apartment next to this lot on his own where the owner of the property lived. He came back to the car in short order very happy and  saying 'I've got the property'. That is my earliest memory of my uncle who over the years became a role model for me and I am sure many others.

My dad was  a friend of Ernie’s  many years ago and he would call my dad and say, “come on over to 33rd  Harry and I’ll give you a couple buckets of ice cream.  Well we were so happy little kids.  Ernie was a very nice man.  May Ernie R.I.P. and sincere condolences to his Family. 💜 💐  the Van Berkel Family.
