It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Eugenio Danieli on April 4, 2016 at the age of 91. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elena, children; John, Jack, Joe (Iva) and Mary, grandchildren; Lisa, Matthew and Cristina. Kirby, his cat, will miss him too. Eugenio laboured all his life, fuelled by a work ethic instilled by his parents and growing up amongst 7 siblings. He followed his brother Nat to Canada in 1955 and was soon joined by Elena. He built a modest life in East Vancouver and was a man wholly dedicated to his family and faith. He worked at Flavelle Cedar for 30 years and retired in 1989. We worried about Dad post retirement, but he had his garden, his wine, his swimming schedule at the pool and his love of silent films, most likely due to his hearing loss. He always had a smile and a joke for us and especially for his grandkids upon whom he doted. He is gone but will live on in our memories. Surely goodness and kindness have followed him all the days of his life. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 12th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel, 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby, BC. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 2025 Napier St., Vancouver, BC. Entombment to follow at Ocean View Burial Park, Abbey Mausoleum, Burnaby, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BC Lung Association or Heart & Stroke Foundation.
