Mr. Felice Catena

Felice died peacefully in his sleep at Eagle ridge Hospital on April 26th in his 83rd year. He is predeceased by his older brothers Luigi and Adam. He is survived by Maria, his loving and caring wife of 60 years, his devoted children Norman(Angeli), Diana(Michael), grandchildren Cory(Alanna), Dylan(Jennifer), Kristy(Dino), Nicola, Alanna, step-grandchildren, Chanel, Monica, Angela(Malcolm), Michaela(Nick), Renata, great-grandchildren Gia, Roman, Janiece,Quincy and 3 more soon to be born. He also leaves behind many loved relatives and friends both here and in Italy. Felice was born in Francalvilla al Mare, Italy where, after WW2, he moved to Vancouver with his wife and small daughter. Like many immigrants at that time, they arrived with little more than the clothes on their backs. He and his wife Maria worked endlessly to build a loving and comfortable home. His philosophy was simple….family first, garden second. Even though he faced many major health challenges in his later years, it never stopped him from living life to the fullest. He was a very proud Canadian but his garden was never anything but a slice of Italy, grapes, figs, beans and tomatoes which were always the largest and tastiest anywhere. Visitors would never leave empty handed .When not in his garden he could be found painting, making wine, raising birds and his latest hobby keeping bees, he always found something to do, and never wasted a minute of life. He was a product of his time, tough, self-reliant and devoted to family. He was his own man and was firm in his beliefs, but that’s fine, they were good beliefs and he was a good man. Ciao Felice, husband, father & very, very great grandpa. You taught us all so much and we miss you terribly.
